a few of my favorite things

a-few-of-my-favorite-things I am turning into a souther girl. I love monograming. What can I say? It just makes me happy. My friend, April, has her own monograming business, Stitches By April. When I saw these shirts with little pockets on them, I knew I had to get them and put some monograms on them. And fast. I am in love with this shirt (and the hubby likes it too – BONUS!)

SPOILER ALERT: The last shirt is a gift, and I don’t think they have received it yet. If they read this post and know their initials, and that their favorite color is green, I guess they know the shirt is coming.

a-few-of-my-favorite-things-1 My mom got me this candle for my birthday and I am loving it. Every time I light it the whole house smells like Fall. Perfection. a-few-of-my-favorite-things-2 This chapstick has been with me through two labors and deliveries. I am not a big chapstick fan, but Mr.YesToCarrots, we have a special bond. a-few-of-my-favorite-things-4 Sippy cups and I have a love HATE relationship. I have been on the search for the perfect sippy cup and I think I have finally found one that I don’t want to throw out the window every time we use them. I have spent my fair share of money on cups to find this one. If you are in search for the cup, look no further. Give this Nuby 2 Handle Flip Straw Cup a try!

a-few-of-my-favorite-things-5 Foldover elastic. It’s so pretty. Stretchy. Colorful. Easy. And makes any girl feel a little more, well, girly. I wear one of these headbands on days that I want to look cute, but keep my hair out of my face. This is also the only way I can keep a bow or flower in Ruthie’s hair. Love it.

a-few-of-my-favorite-things-3 I am here to say, I am a believer. I haven’t been able to wear earring for quite sometime now. I developed an allergy to any kind of earring in High School. I use to be able to wear earring for a few hours and be okay. I got to the point I could hardly wear them during dinner on a date night with out going crazy from the itching and then paying for it for DAYS after while my ears were trying to heal from the dramatic event.

I had given up on the idea that I could ever wear earrings. I had even tried platinum and still no luck. But then, a friend (thank you Mo!) told me about “Wear Earrings Again“. Long story short, I ordered some titanium earrings  and I’ve been wearing them for a few days now. The worst part is over and I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel. It really does seem like I will be able to wear earrings without some serious consequences.  I can’t believe I am wearing earrings RIGHT now as I type this without thinking the whole time “My ears feel like they are on FIRE!” So excited.

I hope you are able to try a few of my favorite things. I love that the little things in life can bring much joy. Sometimes, it’s just a sippy cup that doesn’t leak, or pretty elastic, or being able to wear earring without your ears falling off. Whatever it might be, live hard and happy.

How did you teach your kiddos to use that cup? Literally I just bought Kingston one yesterday and he keeps wanting to tip it up like his old one. Did it take your kids a few days to learn?

Oh the joys of teaching them to drink out of a cup! :) hahaha! I actually never did a bottle or a traditional sippy cup with my kids, I just started them on a straw cup at around 8 months. Ironically though, Ruthie still had a strong urge to tip the cup back. It took her a few days to get it. I started with a real straw and should put something she really liked in it and then let it fall into her mouth. Then I would let her suck it out. Once she got good at that, the transition to the Straw Sippy way easy. It did take a few days. Hope he gets it soon. I think the straw cups open up many more possibilities, like smoothes and such. Happy Sippy cupping :) Miss you guys!

That is so funny! I love how kids brains work! It’s very entraining! I bet he would love smoothies, my kids will drink them like they are candy in a cup :)
